This role will bring technical expertise to the Advanced Navigation Team and Production expertise to the R&D team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth transition of new products from R&D into Production and for providing technical input into failure analysis, fault finding and improvements related to product design, tools jigs and fixtures, process quality and workmanship.

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Bring technical expertise to the Production Team and Production expertise to the R&D team
  • Own the hand over of products from R&D into Production, including process design, documentation, jig and fixture design
  • Identify systemic Production quality issues, troubleshoot and advise the Production Team on technical process improvements
  • Provide technical input to the returns management process, including advising on inspection and repair procedures
  • Provide input to Design for Manufacture reviews during product development
  • Support First Article Testing for component samples purchased by the R&D team

Skills & experience

  • Bachelor of Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering
  • 5-10 years in a similar position
  • Experience in a similar or another complex engineering industry
  • Capable of upskilling quickly to develop deep technical capabilities in a challenging technical domain
  • Able to work collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders across the business, including R&D Engineers and Production Technicians
  • Strong, efficient communicator, written and verbal
  • Well developed, structured problem solving and debugging skills
  • Strong attention to detail with an ability to provide accurate technical documentation
  • Experience planning and scheduling your own work
