What you'll do

  • As a Staff Engineer, you’ll nurture technical directions of product and technology initiatives for users and employees to thrive
  • You’ll foster collaboration between software engineering, product and design teams within our cross-functional structure 
  • Enjoy the freedom to express your fresh perspective to challenge the status quo Be a key contributor to our architectural design to ensure alignment as we scale 
  • Provide technical stewardship to engineers whilst actively building collaborative relationships with managers and stakeholders across the organisation
  • Instigate and reinforce quality engineering across the function
  • Building new features for the platform, owning the development of your solutions and participating in code reviews

What it takes to be successful in the role:

  • An agnostic approach to software engineering with a serious passion to learn new and emerging technologies
  • Knowledge and exposure to the full software development life-cycle  
  • Working knowledge of software testing methods and quality assurance
  • Be an effective collaborator with both technical and non-technical team members
  • Being firmly grounded in computer science and engineering fundamentals

On our wish list:

  • Exposure to container based microservices architecture, distributed computing, CI/CD environments, and RPC protocols such as gRPC or Thrift.
  • Experimentation and data informed approach to solving problems
  • Interest in the startup and technology community

Problems we’re currently solving:

  • Advancing the security of our platform with a more mature authentication system
  • Improving our communications with our users with better, more intelligent, systems
  • Creating the infrastructure and architecture patterns to support our growth well into the future
  • Expanding our platform to the United States
  • Creating a new service to allow taskers to inspire others in what can be done on the platform
  • Improving our incentive systems to support better behaviour and encourage taskers to earn more money on the platform
