The role

We are hiring an Engineering Manager to lead and grow the Consumer Plus engineering squad, and work closely with our product and design functions to improve and expand our consumer product offering.

The squad works together to solve ambiguous and complex engineering challenges using a wide variety of technologies. We need someone with a flexible mindset who is happy with rapid context-switching and enjoys diverse engineering challenges.

In this role, you will:

  • Develop, grow and support the engineering squad
  • Collaborate with the product manager and designer in a triad to discover and validate problems
  • Promote a high-performance culture
  • Drive delivery and outcomes 
  • Coach engineering best-practices 
  • Delegate effectively 
  • Perform architectural design
  • Help your team solve complex problems
  • Ensure solutions can balance between long term ambitions and near term goals

  • Technical excellence across design principles and code quality

  • Ability to jump between empathising with a customer problem and designing an engaging solution
  • Curiosity in understanding payment problems in various industries where people spend every day

Ideal technical skills:

  • Expert level experience on Javascript, Typescript and NodeJS
  • Solid experience on C# and .NET Core
  • Solid experience on AWS, microservice-based designs, SQL and noSQL databases
  • Solid experience on the Agile development, Design Patterns, TDD and Gitflow 
  • Experience with Terraform (or any IoC frameworks), Newrelic (or any monitoring toolkits) is a plus
