Help us improve the health system through good software for doctors, nurses and patients to interact and manage their care. Almost half of Australia's GP clinics use us now, and we're helping them deliver a better experience for millions of patients when they visit their doctor. We now have a chance to go further by developing products that could improve patient outcomes and help everyone in Australia better manage their health.

As a Backend Engineer you will work on our diligently maintained code base to create products you can be proud of, and that our users love. You will work mostly with Rails, and will be encouraged to get involved in some Elixir, frontend JS, and infrastructure to a degree as well.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and release products and features with Ruby on Rails
  • Write and maintain automated test coverage
  • Conduct peer code reviews
  • Collaborate with peers on software design and planning
  • Attend occasional customer visits, and contribute to product development discussions with your own ideas.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Ruby on Rails experience in a good engineering culture. Open to mid-level or senior engineers.
  • Enthusiasm for automated test coverage as a way to maintain code quality and velocity
  • Motivated to own products and features from inception to users appreciating their value
  • Experience and opinions on software design and architecture
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Considered the 'go to' person for one or more technical area
  • Has made and learnt from some mistakes
  • Relentlessly curious and driven to keep learning.
