Data Analyst at Propeller Aero

in Surry Hills, NSW

Job description

Real-time, real accurate data has the potential to revolutionise mining, construction, and civil engineering. Cloud computing and drone surveying can make that worksite data accessible and usable for the people who need it to improve safety, report accurately, boost collaboration and efficiency, and shave days or weeks off typical workflows.

We’re the technology company that’s already making that happen.

At Propeller Aero, we work every day to improve how worksites are managed around the world. We close the information gap between a physical worksite and the people who manage it. We believe everyone should be able to measure and manage their worksite themselves.

Propeller is comprised of tight-knit, decentralised teams. Our people have the freedom to approach, own, and solve problems creatively. We’re 100% about impact, and 0% about ego. Want to know what our team actually say about us? Check out our Glassdoor here.

Currently, we have more than 14,000 worksites in 120-plus countries using our products and we’re growing exponentially. Why aren’t you a part of it?

Your Mission:

You’ll enable Propeller to deliver better customer outcomes through data and analytics. You’ll be looking at every touchpoint in the customer journey to understand our customers, how they’re using the product, and what we can do better.

By doing this, you’ll help transform the way worksites all over the globe use drone data. You’ll play a critical role in a rapidly growing high-tech startup, solving real problems every day—and having fun while you’re at it.

About You:

As the first-ever Data Analyst at Propeller, you’re passionate about turning data into information and insights that help us better understand our customers. You have experience in managing diverse stakeholders and you’re excited to help us extend data literacy throughout the entire company by providing easy-to-consume data.

You will be responsible for expanding and optimising our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimising data flow and collection for cross-functional teams. You have hands-on experience working with complex databases and linking disparate data sources to create and deliver reusable datasets.

You have strong SQL skills (we run Redshift and PostgreSQL), which enable you to drill down deep into the data and present insights we can implement. You’ll be performing root-cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement. You’ll also build processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency, and workload management.

Your Skills:

  • You’ve got experience doing analytics on business, marketing, product, operations, production, or other.
  • Expertise in SQL and database query optimisation. Bonus points for experience with Redshift and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience constructing data ETL pipelines.
  • Knowledge of a scripting language. Bonus points if it’s Python or NodeJS.
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools. (We currently use Mode Analytics.)
  • Strong quantitative skills and basic statistics (e.g. separating signal from noise).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent collaborative skills and ability to be part of a close-knit but globally spread-out team.

About Us:

We’re highly rated on Glassdoor and, according to our Culture Amp survey, 100% of people here would recommend us as a great place to work. We offer employee stock options, paid parental leave, and a beautiful office with stocked kitchens in Surry Hills, not to mention the best roof deck in Sydney. We take being a good place to work pretty seriously.

Propeller is for everyone. We’re an equal opportunity employer who celebrates diversity. Your gender, age, religion, sex life, or skin color won’t make a difference here. If you’re smart and good at what you do, come as you are.
