Platform Engineer at Huddle

in Sydney, NSW

Job description

We believe there's strength in numbers. That's why we've built Huddle, a new model for insurance that cuts out fraud and marketing costs by putting customers back in control.

Over the past year we've developed the basics of this platform and completed a pilot. We've secured $6 million in funding and a sound partnership with The Hollard Insurance Company. We're now expanding and seeking a Platform Engineer to help us.

Your role

As a Platform Engineer, you'll be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, scaling, and optimising the code that powers Huddle's APIs, enabling Huddles to form, insurance processes to work and our customers to claim and get help when they need it. You'll also be responsible for Huddle's integration with other platforms and solutions. You'll need a strong technical prowess with incredible coding ability anchored in Python and open source technologies. You'll need at least some exposure to Django. You will thrive in a hard-working and fun-loving environment, as part of a team that loves to work together to solve complex problems for our Huddles.

What you'll do

  • Break down tough problems into simple, elegant solutions
  • Understand system interdependencies and limitations in architecture
  • Implement solutions that meet performance, scalability, reliability and high availability
  • Help us to embed agile software development best practices, such as CI/CI and test-driven development

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 3+ years of software development experience
  • Experience building public-facing APIs and associated authentication mechanisms
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and developing junior developers
  • Experience building scalable, high performance systems that are highly available
