What you'll do:

  • Set up experiments frameworks to help improve SEO.
  • Building SEO Tools and reporting dashboards to help automate and scale SEO work.
  • Audit Canva’s site for SEO technical issues on a quarterly basis.
  • Champion Technical SEO across all the teams at Canva, to ensure SEO is front of mind with engineers.
  • Responsible for all technical SEO related issues across the business.
  • Oversee large scale engineering projects and site updates in our weekly releases.
  • Collaborate with relevant cross functional departments to implement and optimise world-class SEO strategies.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong demonstrable understanding of front-end technologies – including the ability to confidently hand-code valid semantic HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Previous experience with React and understanding of progressive web apps is preferred.
  • An understanding of structured and linked data, with experience working with and structured data syntaxes such as Microdata, RDFa-Lite or JSON-LD.
  • Proficient in crawl management – Log file analysis, Screaming Frog, Custom crawlers.
  • You’re confident using the most popular SEO tools: Google Search Console, keyword tracking, and backlink discovery tools. You know how to make some basic requests from an API and build basic SEO tools.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics. Good with numbers and can easily extract key, actionable insights from the data. Comfortable working on large datasets and proficiency using advanced Excel functionalities. Ideally, you’ll have some knowledge of SQL.
  • Ability to regularly converse with Engineers, working cross-functionally.
  • Experience working with server-side rendering on large scale sites, React a bonus.
